HIT was founded in March 2000. The basic scope of services of HIT is to provide a centre of excellence in the field of Transport with highly specialized research services offered to government and third party organizations and bodies, and providing support for the conduct of Transport research in Greece. It is also devoted to provide support for the formulation of Transport policy by the relevant Ministries and other government bodies. The offering services cover all areas of Transport and in particular the organization, operation, planning, construction of infrastructure , standardization , economic analysis, management, vehicle technology and impact assessment of land, maritime, air and multimodal transportation. The HIT co-operates and interacts with similar organizations and Institutes of the EU and other counties and represents Greece in the relevant international flora.
