The Chemical Process Engineering Research Institute (C.P.E.R.I.) was founded in 1985 as an independent non-profit research institute in Thessaloniki, Greece. In 1987 it joined the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), which operates under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Greek Ministry of Development. In March 2000, CPERI became a founding member of CERTH, which is also administered by GSRT.
CPERI is carrying out research in the following areas:
(a) Design, synthesis and evaluation of novel catalysts and reacting systems for industrial applications with emphasis on petroleum, petrochemical and environmental processes,
(b) Modeling, simulation, design and synthesis of physicochemical process system with emphasis on polymerization processes
(c) Development of physicochemical processes and equipment with emphasis on water purification, gaseous and particulate emission control as well as on environment development of natural resources.
