The main mission of the Library & Sci Info is to serve the information needs of CERTH and affiliated educational, governmental and other organizations.
These information needs include resources such as: books, journals, and other media - in hardcopy or online format, and services such as: assistance, instruction, and guidance; purchase, processing, indexing, and cataloging of resources; the online catalog and provision for access to online resources; loaning materials, etc. Increasingly, as resources and services are provided in online format, the Library serves as the campus gateway to the online information environment.
The primary Library clientele consists of the directors, faculty, researchers, students and staff of CERTH and Aristotle University; with the needs of the campus taking the priority. The Library also serves alumni, the businesses and individuals that partner with CERTH, the library users of other N. Greece campuses and of other libraries allied with CERTH, high school students, and agencies of government. Further, it serves the public at large, especially the citizens of Thessaloniki prefecture and the broader region, to the extent that it can be achieved without significant interference to its main services.
The Library's broader mission, is to foster intellectual communication and to bring CERTH together with the outside local, regional and national communities. | |
